Our very own ironman, Richard "The Eel" Ward took part in the recent Property Triathlon which was held at Dorney Lake in Eton on an extremely hot summers day. After emerging last in the swim for his age group he managed to drag himself around the course (750m swim, 20km bike ride, 5km run) in a time of 1 hour 35 minutes. He's now optimistic of challenging for a place in the GB swimming squad for the 2012 Olympics! By taking part in the event Richard raised in excess of £800 for the Alzheimers Society.
HRH took part in the 12th ELIFAR Foundation Challenge at the David Lloyd Centre in Ealing. There were 12 teams all competing in a variety of events including beach volleyball, waterpolo, ultimate frizbee and numerous team building events. Although HRH finished mid-table they were triumphant in winning the Tug of War!
The awesome power of James Horgan and Tim Munn wasn't enough to see off Ray and Hoffbrand. The other foursome saw some sparkling form from John Clark and a low centre of gravity helped Chris Lea achieve a few pars, whilst golf rookie Chris Pople showed enough to warrant investing in some clubs. Richard Ward however will not be giving up his day job in the near future!.
